The Department of Economics and Management researches in the fields of management, economics, statistics and applied mathematics with a staff of about 78 researchers and professors. It focuses on business, organization, accounting, economic growth and inequality, corporate social responsibility, survey statistics, econometrics, public economics. The department serves about 6000 students, both undergraduate and graduate, coming from every regions of Italy as well as other European Countries and the rest of the world.
It has an International Relations Office, managing hundreds exchange students and several exchange opportunities (Erasmus study/placement, researchers/professors).
The Department has developed an International Programme providing 2 Ph.D. in economics and management. International programs for students completely taught in English include a Bachelor of Science in Management for Business and Economics, a Master of Science in Economics, a MBA, a Master in Risk Management.
The department grants also a Visiting Fellow programme and host about 10 professors per year within the Erasmus+ programme Staff Teaching. It has been granted in the last 4 years with Erasmus+ founds (Jean Monnet Modules, Jean Monnet Chairs, Jean Monnet Project, Strategic Partnership) which increased considerably the number of foreign professors and the international activities.
The Department will provide the follow with an office, and several facilities: a Library, all the texts are on open shelves, (with 208 seats, 36 of which have notebook access, 8 PCs to read catalogues and databases and a workspace for partially-sighted people). The library has 111,000 volumes, 1,600 journals and thousands of e-journals. There are also many dictionaries, codes, encyclopaedias, bibliographies etc. The department provides also a Computer Centre with 90 computers working with a “triboot” system (three operating systems: Mac OS X 10.5, Window XP professional and Linux Ubuntu 7.10).
The Centre has the Opera Multimedia “Elisa” software, used to practice for the ECDL examination.
